Abstract

1490088 Aircraft retractable undercarriage BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 22 May 1975 [5 June 1974] 25047/74 Addition to 1239919 Heading B7G An aircraft has a retractable undercarriage comprising a main leg assembly on each side of the vertical plane of symmetry 5 and comprising a bracket 3 pivoted at 2 to the fuselage about an axis 4 which is tilted with its upper end lying outboard and rearwards of its lower end, a shock absorber leg 9 pivoted to bracket 3 about an axis 10 which is generally horizontal and parallel to the plane of symmetry and a bogie unit 15-16, a radius arm 11 connected between the leg 9 and the fuselage to effect pivotal movement of the leg about axis 8 as the assembly swings about the axis 4 to bring the rotational axes of the wheels 16, 17 from a generally horizontal position to a generally vertical position when the leg assembly is fully retracted. The leg assembly is braced by a drag stay (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), and a side stay 25 respectively locked and broken by jacks (29) and 30 and extension and retraction are effected by an hydraulic jack 7 pivotally connected to bracket 3.
