Abstract

1,112,791. Retractable undercarriages. RECHERCHES ETUDES PRODUCTION R.E.P. 12 Jan., 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 1500/66, Heading B7G. An aircraft undercarriage leg is retractable about a pivot pin in the fuselage inclined to the plane of symmetry of the fuselage, and the leg 6 has a pivotal connection 8 with the upper portion of a sleeve (7) on the pivot pin, to enable it also to swing inwardly in the plane of the pin axis before retraction. This movement is effected by a jack 9 connecting the leg to a lower portion of the sleeve 7. A wheel, or a pair of wheels, is mounted on a trailing link 4 hinged at the lower end of the leg, which is splayed outwardly in the extended position, and the orientation of the retraction pivot pin, and the angle through which the leg swings in the plane of the pin, are arranged so that when retracted, the wheel axle is parallel to the plane of symmetry of the aircraft.
