Abstract

1487615 Applying transfers MEYERCORD CO 2 Oct 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 42830/74 Heading B6C A machine for applying heat transfers to cylindrical articles 17 from a web 15 comprises a conveyer 23, a portion of which is adjacent and parallel to the web 15, means for turning the articles while they are moving along the conveyer to cause the articles to roll against the transfers, means 12 for spacing the articles on the conveyer and adjusting means for actuating means 12 to adjust the spacing of the articles responsive to the approach of articles and indicia to the transferring area to adjust the relative timing of supply of articles and indicia to co-ordinate arrival of articles and indicia. Photo-electric cells detect the transfer (e.g. by marks printed on the back of the web in register with the transfers) and the articles, and depending upon the outputs, screw conveyer 12 is driven at one or other of two speeds. The circuitry of the photodetectors may include a time delay device so that a speed, once selected is maintained for a given period irrespective of the photodetector signals. The articles are rotated by belts 91 which move at a different speed from belt 71.
