Abstract

1487244 Structural joints VALLOUREC 11 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 44159/74 Heading F2M [Also in Division E1] A purlin or beam, particularly for a suspended ceiling, floor or wall structure, is composed of a number of sheet-metal sections 2 of C form arranged end-to-end and interconnected by fish plates 4 of similar cross-section, the webs 2a, 4a of the sections and fish plates having mating corrugations 2d, 2e and 4d, 4e, respectively, the form of the corrugations being such as to produce a wedging action when bolts 5 passed through mating apertures in the webs 2a, 4a and, optionally, apertures in supporting brackets 7, are tightened by means of nuts 6. One of the corrugations 2d on the web 2a of the sections 2 may receive at intervals brackets 10 which are held in place by spring clips 11a, 11b, the brackets 10 supporting the backing 9 of an insulation sheet 8 above a panel (e.g. a ceiling panel) which is attached to the clips 11a, 11b by fasteners 11c.
