Abstract

1485440 Non-woven fabric NISHINO SANGYO KK 16 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 44858/74 Heading DIR [Also in Division A2] Wood pulp or bagasse fibres are separated by a hammer mill and air laid by suction onto a foraminous conveyor to form a loose batt, the surfaces of the batt are sprayed with water then pressed and dried. The outer layers are thus rendered dense and coherent through inter-fibre hydrogen bonding whilst the inner layers remain unbonded, bulky and capable of absorbing moisture. The water may contain a preservative and may be sprayed on each surface sequentially, the sprayed surface being pressed by a roller before the other surface is sprayed, or the surfaces are sprayed simultaneously.
