Abstract

1484786 Aerating liquids B A JOHNSON 4 Aug 1975 [5 Aug 1974] 32515/75 Heading B1C [Also in Division C6] In a method and apparatus for carbonating a beverage, a yeast and sugar fermentation liquor 12 in a high pressure (i.e. champagnetype) bottle 13 produces carbon dioxide which is conducted through a plastics tube 15 to be bubbled through a beverage 10 in a similar bottle 11. The tube 15 is welded to stoppers 14 which are secured by wire clamps 16. There may be more than one bottle 11 and a stop-cock and pressure gauge may be included in the tube 15, see Figs. 4 and 5, not shown. The fermentation bottle 13 is preferably smaller than the beverage bottle 11, which may be cooled to increase the amount of gas dissolved.
