Abstract

1483920 Boxes FORMWOOD Ltd 24 Nov 1975 [25 Nov 1974] 50870/74 Heading B8P A box for fruit or vegetables has separate sides 2 and ends 3 each having their vertical edges bent at 45 degrees and overlapped. Each end and side also has a projection or ledge 8 on its inner face to support a base 4. The box is moulded of chipboard, a plastic, or paper machÚ and the overlapped edges are joined by adhesive, screws, staples, nuts and bolts, spring clips or projections on one edge engaging keyhole slots on the other edge. Shallow depressions 11 retain the base 4 on the ledge 8 and similar depressions (not shown) near the top edges of the walls retain a lid. Inwardly tapering lower edges 9 of the sides and ends enable one box to be stacked on another and the inner edges 6 at a comer are cut away at 16 to facilitate stacking. Shallow finger recesses are moulded into the boxes. When the boxes are placed closely adjacent, the truncated corners form ventilation ducts therebetween and ventilation holes may be formed in the sides and ends. The boxes may be formed by moulding a single sheet, Figs. 3 or 4 (not shown) cut between the portions that form the sides and end so producing the inclined edges 5, 6.
