Abstract
1483615 Transformers and inductors ASEA AB 27 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 42007/74 Heading HIT A transformer winding consists of a tape conductor 3 with layer and turn insulation 5, 4 applied simultaneously with the conductor, wherein the conductor is wound in layers around an axis of a cylinder 1 with a substantially constant number of turns per layer and with an overlap per turn which increases from the innermost layer to the outermost layer, so that the axial length of the winding decreases in that direction. The layer insulation 5 nearest the cylinder 1 consists of paper of width equal to the axial length of the winding plus a short overlap, but the width decreases and its thickness increases with successive layers. Capacitive plates 7 of metal foil and edge screens 8 of tape conductor are applied as open turns of zero pitch in a frusto-conical configuration (Fig. 1, not shown). In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the paper insulation has the same width throughout, and for every fourth turn of the conductor and turn insulation, a paper layer is included in the turn insulation.
