Abstract

1481403 Controlling electro-photographic copying machines RICOH CO Ltd 30 Jan 1976 [30 Jan 1975] 03659/76 Heading G2H A copying machine which includes a movable photo-conductive member on which an electrostatic latent image is formed and developed, a transfer station for transferring the developed image to a copy sheet and a cleaning station for cleaning the photo-conductive member after the developed image has been transferred, comprises delay means operative upon connection of the machine to a power source to cause the cleaning station to clean the member for a predetermined duration and to inhibit the initiation of any copying cycle for the predetermined duration. The delay means may also inhibit the initiation of the copying cycle for a further predetermined period during which a station is actuated to discharge any residual charge on the member. Provision may also be made at the end of a selected number of copying cycles to continue the cleaning and discharging processes for predetermined periods. A suitable control circuit is illustrated.
