Abstract
PURPOSE:To make simple and uniform electrostatic charging of a toner possible by turning the electrostatic latent images formed on a latent image carrier to visible images by means of the toner charged in a clouded state to a prescribed polarity by an electrostatic charger. CONSTITUTION:When a copying operation is started, a photosensitive drum 2 is rotated in an arrow direction, and electrostatic latent images 15 are formed on the surface of the drum 2. The toner conveyed on the surface of a supply sleeve 6 is scraped off from the surface of the sleeve 6 by the leading end 12a of a scraper 12 and falls onto the circumferential surface of a developing sleeve 3 by passing through the inside of a space 8. At this time, the toner under falling is subjected to corona discharge by a discharger 13, by which it is charged to a prescribed polarity (for example, positive). The toner powder falling in the space 8 is clouded like dust and when it receives the corona discharge effect, the toner is charged uniformly over the entire part thereof.
