Abstract

1481356 Plaster composition RAYTHEON CO 20 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27461/74 Heading C1H [Also in Divisions H5, C3 and B5] A plaster composition for treatment by microwaves comprises a suspension of plaster in water to which is added powdered magnetite, a microwave energy absorbing material. For the formation of plaster moulds for making complex metal casting which will in turn be used to produce plastics parts having an intricate surface pattern, e.g. wood grain, leather, or fabric, a blend of 50% gypsum plaster with the balance primarily fibrous talc and some silica sand is mixed with water and magnetite powder additive. After formation in a master mould water is removed in a microwave oven, the magnetite additive absorbing energy and heating the water in the plaster composition by conduction. The water is also heated by direct absorption of microwave energy.
