Abstract

1478863 Tiling SOUTHERN CHEMICAL Ltd 18 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 45312/74 Heading E1B Bricks or tiles 23 are secured to walls by means of an intermediate sheet 20 of insulating material, e.g. foamed phenol formaldehyde, polystyrene or polyurethane, having ribs 21 defining elongate recesses into which the tiles can be inserted. The recesses have studs 22 which position the bricks or tiles at a spacing. The bricks or tiles are bonded in the recesses by adhesive and the joints may be pointed with plaster or cement. The height of the ribs is preferably half the thickness of a brick or tile.
