Abstract

910,156. Building panels. PAN-L CONSTRUCTION Inc. July 6, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 24407/61. Class 87 (1). An insulating wall panel comprises a foamed core 14 of gypsum, concrete, or various plastics, faced on one or both sides with asbestos cement, plywood, gypsum, or metal sheets 12, 18 and finally covered on one of the sheets, or on the unfaced core, with a mortar, gypsum, or asphalt layer 20 in the surface of which is embedded a crushed decorative material 22. Polystyrene, polyurethane, polyethylene, or an epoxy resin can be used for the core and the crushed material may be marble, brick, tile clay, stone aggregate, or stucco, which may be grooved as at 46 to imitate a bricked structure. The sheets 12, 18 are secured by various adhesives 16 and when the core is faced directly with the mortar &c. it may be punched with keying holes or mechanical anchors may be used. The decorative surface may be textured with a wire brush &c. and may be silicon or resin protected. The panel may have on its interior surface a layer of plaster. Two panels may be anchored to studding 24 by nails 26 passed through openings 28 cut in the edges of the panels or alternatively tie straps project from each panel.
