Abstract

1476960 Electromagnetic relays ELMEG ELEKTRO-MECHANIK GmbH 24 June 1974 [30 June 1973] 27859/74 Heading H1N An electromagnetic relay comprises two rectangular yoke frames 1, 2 spaced apart by two permanent magnets 3 and spacer pieces 4 (one set shown), a coil 5 being disposed within the central aperture of the yoke frames and having a pivoted armature 7 journalled within its bobbin case 6. Each end of the armature is provided with insulating contact actuating members 10, 11, as shown each carrying movable conductive contact sufaces 14, 15 having adjacently disposed blowout magnets 26, 27 (one set shown) and, as typically shown for one cut-away corner, Fig. 1, the movable contacts make/break with a respective fixed contact 16 of contact springs 17, 18 which are located by suitably shaped insulating spacer pieces 19, 20, 21. Elongated springs 25 serve as supply leads to the contact surfaces 14, 15 and the contact springs 17, 18 have extensions 24, all being brought out through spacer 20 and all of which can be contacted by appropriate springs 29 of a contact frame 30 having plugging contacts 31 for connection to a printed circuit board. The relay assembly is rigidly clamped between the yoke frames 1, 2 by rivets 22 and the coil and armature are held in position by extensions 34 of the bobbin 6. As shown, the armature is centrally pivoted in insulating discs 9 but the pivots may be dispensed with and the armature supported solely by the springs 25. An insulating casing, Fig. 2 (not shown) may surround the yokes and the openings in end sides of the yokes may be covered with plastic or metal foil which may be hermetically welded. Adjustment of the contact springs 17, 18 may be effected by inserting a feeler gauge between the end of the armature and an adjacent yoke, say 2, and then inserting an oval rod between contact spring 17 and the yoke 1, the rod then being turned until correct engagement between contact 16 and surface 15 is obtained.
