Abstract

1476941 Dyeing or printing with reactive dyestuffs HOECHST AG 23 Aug 1974 [25 Aug 1973] 37161/74 Heading D1B Textile materials containing hydroxy or carbonamide groups e.g. cotton, linen, viscose, copper rayon, staple fibres, wool, silk, palyamide fibres and mixtures thereof are pad-dyed or printed with a print paste or padding liquor comprising a water-soluble reactive dyestuff, barium carbonate and optionally a thickener and/or auxiliary agent, drying the material, applying an aqueous solution of sodium sulphate thereto and then subjecting the material to steam fixation. The print paste (preferably containing urea) or pad dyeing liquor preferably contains 10-20 grams barium carbonate per Kg, and the sodium sulphate solution has a concentration of 5-20%. The sodium sulphate solution may be applied by padding, nip-padding, overprinting or spraying. The Examples describe the printing of mercerised cotton staple fibre and knit cotton fabrics with reactive anthraquinone and azo dyestuffs.
