Abstract

1476847 Evaporator PFLUGER APPARATEBAU GmbH 23 May 1975 [8 June 1974] 22786/75 Heading BIB [Also in Division F4] A multiple tube evaporator 1 for use in a compression condensation refrigeration system, Fig. 1, comprises an array of tubes mounted in a housing 1''' and extending between end plates 9 to which manifolds 8, 8' are welded. The housing is of rectangular cross-section and the tubes are arranged therein so that the distances between adjacent tube centres and between tube centres and the inside of the housing are constant. Deflector plates 10, 10' are provided in the housing and are so arranged that the medium to be cooled, in passing from one end of the housing to the other between the tubes, passes alternately parallel to and perpendicular to the tubes. The ratio of the projected areas F P , F S for passage of the medium respectively parallel to and perpendicular to the tubes is substantially 1:1.
