Abstract

The heat exchanger system is for use between two currents of liquid or gas circulating in opposite directions, having a heat pump and a static heat exchanger in the currents upstream of the pump. There are a number of heat pumps (141, 142, 143), whose heat exchangers (151, 152, 153) are connected in series and adjacent to each other. Thus a first liquid or gas flows in succession through the static exchanger (171, 172, 173) and then the exchanger functioning as evaporator or condenser for the first pump, that for the second, and that for the third etc. The second liquid or gas flows first through another portion of the static exchanger, and then through the heat exchangers of third, second and first pumps in succession.
