Abstract
1473585 Electro-photographic members XEROX CORP 29 May 1974 [4 June 1973] 23802/74 Heading G2C A method of preparing an electro-photographic member, the photo-conductor not being amorphous Se, so that its triboelectric properties with respect to toner development substantially match that of a member with amorphous Se as photo-conductor comprises (a) adding sufficient fluorinated resin to the photo-conductive layer comprising photoconductor and a non-fluorinated binder for such matching, (b) adding sufficient fluorinated resin to an overcoat containing binder on the photoconductive layer for such matching or (c) preparing a layer of photo-conductor and a fluorinated CF3 | copolymer of C n F (2n+1) CH 2 OCO.C=CH 2 and CF3 C n F (2n+1) CH 2 .O.CO,C=CH 2 wherein n is an integer, the amount of this copolymer and its fluorinated content being sufficient for such matching. In the examples, phthalocyanine, quiacridone, crystalline Se, CdS, triphenylamine and polyvinyl carbazole are used as photoconductors and a mixture of (a) epoxy phenolic resin and fluorinated epoxy resin and (b) an acrylic copolymer and perfluoromethyl methacrylate are used as the binder for the photo-conductive layer or overcoat layer, generally about 10 per cent of fluorinated polymer being added to obtain the desired matching.
