Abstract

1473300 Cigarette making machines MOLINS Ltd 15 Aug 1974 [17 Aug 1973] 39028/73 Heading A2C In a cigarette making machine in which tobacco is showered through a channel extending towards a conveyor on which the tobacco builds up to form a cigarette filler stream, additional smokable material is fed into the channel, the material being delivered in sheet form and being shredded as it passes into the channel, so that the shredded additional material is showered together with tobacco towards the conveyor. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 additional smokable material is fed through an opening in the front wall 2A of a channel 2. This material is provided in the form of a web 18 of tobacco substitute or reconstituted tobacco which is fed through two sets of co-operating shredding discs 20, 22, disposed on horizontal axes and rotatable to shred sheet 18 longitudinally into strips. There may also be provision to cut the strips transversely. Specification 916141 is referred to.
