Abstract

1473279 Pressure die casting processes NIPPON LIGHT METAL CO Ltd 18 April 1975 [19 April 1974] 16087/75 Heading B3F A method of die casting comprises flushing the die cavity 4 with a gas which will react with the metal to be cast, injecting metal into the reactive gas-filled cavity and thereafter forcing a member 10 into the metal in the cavity while said metal is still partially molten. The member 10 consists of a rod connected to an hydraulic cylinder 11 and the reactive gas is introduced into the cavity 4 and injection sleeve 6 through a nozzle 9. The reactive gas may be oxygen when casting zinc, aluminium or magnesium.
