Abstract

1470814 Metal vapour lamp GTE SYLVANIA Inc 20 June 1974 [9 July 1973] 27507/74 Heading H1D In a discharge lamp filled with Hg vapour, metal halide and inert gas, to centralize the arc in the arc tube 6, so improving life and efficiency, the horizontally mounted lamp is given an arched arc tube and a positioning base 5 to ensure upward orientation of the arch. Convection then centres the arc in the tube; the angle between tangents to the centre line at the ends of the tube lies between 130 degrees and 160 degrees for best results, typically 140 degrees.
