Abstract

PURPOSE:To intend the increase of a lamp efficiency by controlling a seaing molar ratio of a sodium halogenide and a scandium halogenide which are necessary compositions within a special range, and sealing a rare gas therein under a particular sealing pressure. CONSTITUTION:A sealing molar ratio of a sodium halogenide and a scandium halogenide is controlled within a range of 1:3-15:1 and a sealing pressure value of a rare gas is designed more than 100 Torr. Thus, an active convection occurs in a light emission tube at a lighting time, thereby being able to prevent the separation of the sodim halogenide and the scandium halogenide sticked to the tube wall stirring the sealing medicine with a good condition. Still further, the Sc concentration of an upper and a lower portion in the light emission tube can be uniformed by the convection. As the result, the decrease of a light flux can be prevented by controlling the decrease of a partial pressure of Sc and of Na and the stability of an arc can be increased by the uniformation of the Sc concentration.
