Abstract

1470403 Electro-photographic materials LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 9 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 30375/74 Heading G2C [Also in Division C7] An electro-photographic material comprises a metal support or a support with a metallized surface, an intermediate layer and an inorganic photoconductive layer; the photo-conductive layer being vacuum deposited on the intermediate layer at a temperature above the melting point of the intermediate layer or the material, after such deposition, being heated to such a temperature to ensure good adhesion for the photo-conductor which is itself unaffected by the heating step. Specified intermediate layers are In, Ga, Bi, Pb, Sn, Cd or alloys thereof such as Wood's metal or Rose's alloy or S or a compound containing S. In the Examples (i) Ga/In alloy, m.p. 50‹C, is vapour deposited on an Al support, heated to 60 C and Se vapour deposited thereon and (ii) In is vapour deposited on steel heated to 200 C and As 2 Se 3 deposited thereon. Halogen doped Se may also be used as photo-conductor.
