1470228 Collecting wound yarn packages from machines TOYODA JIDOSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK 24 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 27965/74 Heading D1F In the transfer of yarn packages from a textile e.g. open end spinning, machine to a carrying device located below a predetermined position adjacent the carrying terminus of a discharge conveyor, each package doffed onto the conveyor is compelled to adopt a predetermined orientation as it moves to the terminus, each oriented package is received and temporarily held at the position then dropped therefrom into the carrying device before the succeeding package is received thereat. As shown in Fig. 1, yarn from each spinning unit 2 is wound on a bobbin 4 by drum 3 into a full package 6 held by cradles 5. The imminence and completion of the package is signalled visually prior to automatic or manually operated doffing (as well as package replacement) onto conveyor belt 7. Prior to the doffing operation, the belt is cleaned by a device comprising a brush 8 and a nozzle 9, Fig. 2. As packages 6 are each moved to one end of belt 7 and thence via upright guide plates of a sliding plate 12 for transfer to a carrying device 20, the haphazard array thereof is corrected by a guide 11 and each is temporarily positioned by a device 10. Combinations of stationary or displaceable positioning devices and displaceable carrying devices applicable to groups of spinning machines are described, Figs. 7A-C, 8A-E (not shown). The device 10 receives a package 6 on plates 15a and 15b turnably held by pins 16a, 16b, and with a circular aperture therebetween generally locating the bobbin (4). The presence of a package is signalled visually (and recorded on a counter) by a photoelectric detector (comprising a light projector 17a and a photo-cell 17b) which also initiates energisation of a solenoid 18 acting through pivoted arms 22a, 22b to open the plates 15a, 15b so that package 6 drops into device 20: limit switch 24 causes deenergisation of solenoid after an appropriate time delay, to restore the mechanism (and perhaps actuate a counter). In a combination of displaceable devices 10 and 20, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) each device and its associated electrical control mechanisms (including magnetic relays and switchgear) which regulate the transfer operations are movable on trolley rails and are connected and interconnected through electrically conductive rollers.
