1470108 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 20 Nov 1974 50345/74 Addition to 1431742 Heading B6F To facilitate front insertion of documents in a printer having a print head carriage 10 traversing platen 12, a strip is attached to the carriage 10 so as to be held taut across the face of the platen 12. The document is inserted between the strip and the platen. The strip has an aperture 30 through which the head 40 can print. As shown, the strip may be of polyester resin and attached to a frame-mounted spool 23 urged by spring 24 in the direction of the arrow. Alternatively the strip may be attached to a spool at either end so as to extend across the platen at all times. The front edge of apron 13 may be adjustable to position the front-inserted document.
