Abstract

1450346 Selective printing INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 7 Oct 1974 [11 Dec 1973] 43328/74 Heading B6F A wire mosaic print head comprises wire guides constraining the wires to follow a path on a surface which comprises a circular base, and tapers to a rectangular tip having a width equal to the width of one wire and a length equal to the sum of the widths of all the wires, the surface being concave. The wires are held against an inner guide cone 28 by an outer guide shell 31. The wires are fixed to armatures (7, Figs. 1, 5, not shown) at their non-printing ends, which are driven by solenoids (8). Grooves may be provided either as shown at 30 in the inner cone 28 or (not shown) in the outer shell 31.
