Abstract

1469112 Retaining element UNITED-CARR Ltd 10 Sept 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 40343/73 Heading E2B A retaining element 10 comprises a resilient arm which is bowed when unstressed and has snap-engaging anchoring means 12 projecting from its concave side engaged in an aperture in panel 16 so that the arm presses a member 15 to be retained against the support. As shown, the arm has limbs 11, 19, limb 11 having an end 13 bent upwardly for finger release. The end 17 of member 15 is located in a slot (18) in the panel 16. End 13 has a stamped-out abutment 14 engaging an aperture or depression in the arm. The anchoring means 12 comprises two partcylindrical lugs 21, 22 stamped from limbs 19, 11 leaving openings (23, 24, Fig. 2, not shown) and flexible margins (29, 30), the lugs having stamped out prongs 26, 27 to engage the underside of panel 16 when the lugs are forced through aperture 25 therein, drawing down the central portion of the retainer. Limb 19 also has its end 20 bent upwardly and engages the panel 16 at 20a. The retainer may be rotated about lugs 21, 22 clear of arm 15 to allow removal thereof.
