Abstract

1468678 Hydraulic pumps and turbines WEIR PUMPS Ltd 21 June 1974 [20 Nov 1973] 53892/73 Headings F1C and FIT In an hydraulic pump or turbine having a casing including a vertical tubular portion 32 containing an arcuate outlet passage 34 through which passes the drive shaft 50 of the pump or turbine rotor 52, a portion 18 of the casing is removable to permit access to the rotor and its neighbouring components from below. The casing portion 18 may be segmental and is attached to the remainder of the casing via flanges 16, 22 and a slip joint 20. Casing portion 24 is also removable. The pump or turbine is mounted in a concrete construction 10 having an access passage 54 therein provided with rails 58 for a trolley equipped with hydraulic ram means. The passage 54 may serve two machines mounted side by side. A vertical access shaft leads from passage 54 to the surface. Casing portion 28 is suspended from outer casing 32 by flange 30.
