Abstract
1467510 Electric railways DEMAG AG 14 June 1974 [20 June 1973] 26464/74 Heading B7L [Also in Division H2] For supporting electric rails such as conductor rails 7, 21 and a linear motor reaction rail 8 of an electrically powered railway system, brackets 2 which carry said rails are mounted on a support structure 1 by threaded elements 3 which extend from structure 1 through clearance holes 2c in the brackets and are provided with resilient members 5, Fig. 4 (enlargement of "A" in Fig. 2), which damp vibration. Structure 1 is a hollow beam of slot conduit type of which a side wall 1a is shown and carries a track rail 1b which defines one edge of an opening to receive a current collector trolley of a vehicle carrying collector shoes 12 for contact with the rails 7 and linear motor windings 13. Each bracket 2 comprises a centre portion (2a) from both sides of which extend arms (2b), Fig. 1 (not shown), the arms having bolted thereto insulators 6 carrying the rails 7 and the arms on one side of the centre portion being offset relative to those of the other side. A number of the brackets 2 may be stamped out of a single sheet of metal by ganged punches, the arms of adjacent brackets interleaving one another. The resilient members 5 may be formed by pouring a casting compound such as plastics material into the space to be occupied thereby, with the aid of removable moulds, and allowing the compound to harden. The member may be merely a resilient pad between wall la and bracket 2, or may comprise components of resilient material between rigid plates, one component being between the bracket and a nut 4 on the element 3. A spring washer 17 may be used in the bolted connection of rail 8 to the bracket so that the angle of the rail may be varied by tightening of one or another bolt. The brackets may be movable vertically by adjustment at another resilient vibration damper at "C", Fig. 2. The conductor rail 21 is utilized by a system for checking the distances between succeeding vehicles.
