Abstract

1466843 Ballast transformers J CATES 13 Aug 1975 33784/75 Heading HIT A ballast inductor unit for a discharge lamp, which unit comprises a mild steel casing containing a magnetic core 8, 9, with legs having air gaps 10, 11, these legs carrying primary and secondary windings 12, 13 connected in series opposition, includes additional magnetic members 16, 17, 18, 19 to increase the leakage flux. As shown the members are magnetic strips, and these may be disposed inside or outside the casing. Alternatively a second casing may be provided. A thermal cut-out may be provided in the casing which may be filled with polyester resin and silica. Dimensional details and operational details are disclosed.
