Abstract

1466740 Tetrazolium C-oxy-betaine compounds MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 6 May 1974 [7 May 1973] 19893/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Tetrazolium C-oxy-betaine compounds having the general formula or a mesomeric form thereof, wherein R is an optionally substituted aryl group are prepared by oxidizing the corresponding C-nitro formazane, using for example, amyl nitrite, N- bromosuccinimide, lead acetate or sodium hypochlorite as the oxidizing agent. The compounds of the invention may be used as foginhibiting agents for silver halide photographic emulsions.
