[Also in Division G2] A gelatine coating composition, which may be a photographic silver halide emulsion, comprises gelatine which has been digested in the presence of a compound wherein R is -COOH or -CHO and n is 1 or 2. The gelatine so treated has improved resistance to fogging when used in photographic compositions. Compounds specified are cinnamaldehyde, o-, m- and p-nitrocinnamaldehyde cinnamic acid and o-, m- and p-nitrocinnamic acid.
