[Also in Division G2] A gelatin composition comprises gelatin which has been digested in the presence of a compound of the formula wherein R is halogen or nitro and n is 1, 2 or 3. The gelatin so treated has improved resistance to fogging when used in photographic emulsion. Compounds specified are benzaldehyde, o-, m- and p-nitrobenzaldehyde, o-chloro- and obromobenzaldehyde and 2: 6-dichlorobenzaldehyde.
