Abstract

1458528 Pyrazolo - s - triazole derivatives KODAK Ltd 12 Sept 1974 [13 Sept 1973] 43095/73 Heading C2C Novel 3- or 6-nitroaryl or -nitroheterocyclic derivatives of (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl 1H-pyrazolo-striazole - 7 - carboxylates having the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl group and one of R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> is alkyl and the other is a nitroaryl or nitroheterocyclic group, which may be further substituted, are prepared by nitrating a (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl 3- or 6-aryl or -heterocyclic-1H- pyrazolo-s-triazole-7-carboxylate with nitric acid and H 2 SO 4 , suitably at a temperature of less than 60‹ C. The novel compounds are useful in the preparation of photographic colour couplers.
