Abstract

1340544 Benzimidazoline derivatives AGFAGEVAERTAG 38481/71 [27 Aug 1970 18 June 1971] Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Compounds of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a straight or branched chain alkyl of 1-6 C, R<SP>2</SP> is H, alkyl of 1-6 C, alkoxy of 1-6 C, halogen, aryloxy, nitro, carboxy, carbamoyl, sulpho or sulphoamoyl, and n is 1 or 2, are made by reacting the appropriate 2-mercaptobenzimidazole with a pyrocarbonate ester. In worked preparations, diethylpyrocarbonate is reacted with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole or 5 : 6-dichloro-, 5-methoxy-, 5- chloro- or 5-nitro-2-mercaptobenzimidazole to give compounds where R<SP>1</SP> is ethyl; di-n-propylpyrocarbonate is reacted with 5-chloro- or 5 : 6-dichloro-2-mercaptobenzimidazole to give those where R<SP>1</SP> is n-propyl; and di-iso-propylpyrocarbonate is reacted with 5 : 6-dichloro-2- mercaptobenzimidazole to give R<SP>1</SP> = isoproyl.
