1305025 Cyclopentenones NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 9 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 31065/72 Divided out of 1305024 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where Q is halogen or hydroxy, R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen or alkyl and R 3 is aryl. The compounds wherein Q is halogen are prepared by halogenating the corresponding compound, wherein Q is hydrogen. Compounds wherein Q is hydroxy are prepared by reacting the corresponding compound, wherein Q is halogen with silver acetate and hydrolysing the resulting acetate to liberate the alcohol.
