Abstract

1462121 Hatch cover operating mechanisms KVAERNER BRUG AS 7 May 1974 [8 May 1973] 20141/74 Heading E2M The cover for an opening e.g. a hatchway comprises sections hinged together in pairs with adjacent pairs being connected together and the sections are moved along a runway 12 to cover or uncover the opening by means of an endless chain, wire or the like 14 and jacks 16 which are connected to the pairs of cover sections 1A 1B to 4A-4B. When opening the cover initially the jacks are retracted to lift the pivot axis of the respective pairs of cover sections. When closing the cover the jacks are extended during the final phase of unfolding to act as a brake for the respective pairs of cover sections. The jacks operate only during the initial and final phases of folding or unfolding the cover sections respectively.
