Abstract

1461647 Dough extruder H ROTTNER 11 Oct 1974 [11 Oct 1973] 44101/74 Heading B5A In an extruder for bread dough, a ring of rotating vanes 16 slices the dough from a dough supply 20 at an inlet 2 of a housing 11, and displaces it into a space 18 between the vanes 16 and a roller 12, which rotates with the vanes to convey the dough towards a stationary deflector 19, by which it is displaced between the vanes 16 and through an outlet 3 and a die 5 attached thereto. The roller 12 is rotated by a shaft 11, and the vanes 16 are planar and extend between a ring which rotates in a housing recess on one side, and a ring 13 on the other side which is detachably secured by pins 14 for rotation with the roller 12, e.g. at 5 to 10 revs./minute. The vanes 16, and the edge of the deflector 19 adjacent outlet 3, are inclined at 30 degrees to the radius, and the deflector 19 has edges adjacent the inlet and outlet which are respectively inclined at the same angle as, and at right angles to the vanes 16. The deflector 19 also acts as a scraper against the roller 12. The housing has a door 9 hinged at 10 for opening and removal and cleaning of the vane ring 16. The outlet 3 is cylindrical, and the passage 6 of the die 5 is pyramidial, with the sides respectively shown in Figs. 1 and 2 being inclined to each other at 20, and 90 degrees. Various dimensions and clearances are specified. The exterior surface of the deflector 19 and the opposed surface of the housing 1 extend over an arc which is at least the same as, or smaller than that between the vanes, respectively to prevent or permit some return flow of dough to the inlet 2.
