Abstract

1461226 Tamper indicating closure W E BIDDING 15 May 1975 [5 Aug 1974] 20526/75 Heading B8T A tamper indicating closure for a container 14 having a threaded neck portion that is provided with at least one external tooth 20 comprises an internally threaded cap body 11, a discontinuous locking ring 12 provided internally with pawls 30, and a handle 13 extending between the free ends 36, 37 of the locking ring 12 and comprising S-members 38, 39 and an arcuate pull tab 45. The cap is screwed on to the container and may be removed either by the application of sufficient unscrewing torque to the cap 11 to break connectors 33 joining the locking ring 12 to the cap 11 or by pulling the pull tab 45 of the handle 13. In the latter case a frangible web 48 and flash members 47 first break and then the connectors 33 rupture allowing the locking ring 12 to be removed from the closure.
