1461111 Anchoring bolts R A H HEARD 16 May 1974 21796/74 Heading F2H [Also in Division E2] A clamp for mounting an article 20, e.g. a road sign, on a support 16, the article having a channel member 18 with a restricted opening secured thereto, comprises a strap 10 to pass round the support 16, and a member 12 or 14 at each end for attaching it to the channel member 18, the member 14 at at least one end being an apertured part through which passes the shank 44 of a bolt 46 having a head 48 of non-rectangular parallelogram plan form, the head having a minor width less than the width of the channel mouth so that it can be inserted into the channel and then rotated until it extends across the channel and is retained therein. Preferably the obtuse angle corners of the head 48 are rounded as at 47. The member 14 has a limb 41 with a bolt aperture 42, and a limb 40 having at least one slot 34 to receive a cranked end 36 of the strap 10. The free end of the limb 41 is bent at right angles to the main portion and has a central lug 45 to engage in the channel 18 mouth. The other attachment member may be similar, or, as shown in Fig. 1, may be a member 12 with slots 34 to receive the other cranked end 36 of the strap, a neck 28 to engage in the channel mouth, and an end toggle 30 with ears 32 to engage across the channel. The cranked ends 36 of the strap 10 have pips 38 to prevent them from falling through the slots 34 prior to use. The strap also has small pips 52 to engage in the polyethylene covering 60 of the support 16 without damaging it. Preferably all the clamp parts are of stainless steel.
