Abstract

1460214 Biocidal composition RHONEPROGIL 10 Oct 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 44001/74 Heading A5E A biocidal composition suitable for application to wood comprises by wt. (i) 5-50 parts of an oil or synthetic resin (ii) 1-10 parts of a biocidal substance, (iii) 40-85 parts of one or more petroleum type solvents, per 100 parts of components (i), (ii) and (iii), and (iv) 2-20% based on components (i), (ii) and (iii), of N- methyl-2-pyrolidone. Up to 6 parts of pigment may also be added e.g. iron oxides or carbon black. Suitable biocides are pentachlorophenol and hexachlorocyclohexane (y-isomer). The preferred solvent is white spirit and a suitable oil is pine oil and the preferred synthetic resin is an alkyd resin.
