Abstract

1440387 Stabilized pigmented polyamides MONSANTO CO 2 July 1973 [3 July 1972] 31442/73 Heading C3R Colour-pigmented nylon compositions are stabilized against the degradative effects of actinic radiation and weathering by incorporation of 400 to 600 p.p.m. dissolved Cu and 0À4 to 1À85 wt. percent of an inorganic halide other than an iodide, the ratio of Cu in p.p.m. to halide in wt. per cent being between 325 and 1150 to 1. The composition may also include up to 1000 p.p.m. of P. Various conventional halides and Cu and P compounds are specified. The composition is stated to be particularly suitable for synthetic turf, for which purpose the preferred pigments are halogenated or unhalogenated copper phthalocyanine in conjunction with chrome yellow and optionally carbon black; they may be incorporated as a dispersion in a carrier, e.g. polyethylene or nylon 6/66/610. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,168,913.
