Abstract

1459744 Moulding sand cores GEOFFREY LAMB (CONSULTANTS) Ltd 11 March 1974 [13 Dec 1972] 57568/72 Heading B3G Foundry sand cores with a binder are cured in their core box by gas supplied thereto which passes from the box directly into a chamber sealed from the atmosphere and from which the gas is delivered by ducting to a disposal point. A core box comprises stationary and movable parts 1, 2 respectively, each attached to a hollow mounting 12 providing a chamber 19 receiving gas from the core box cavity 5 via apertures 8. The gas is removed via a detachable hood 20 and ducting 23 brought to a sealing position over the box. Curing gas is fed by a head 24 attached to a housing 25. Extractor plates 9 with pins 11 are associated with each box part and are engaged either by fixed pins 10 or spring-loaded pins 10<SP>1</SP>.
