Abstract

1437864 Foundry moulding MEC-FOND SpA 26 April 1974 [9 May 1973] 18407/74 Heading B3F A head for blowing sand into a foundry flask or core box 1 includes a closed frame 6 in which a member 7 slides axially and has slots 8 through which sand is blown. The slots separate ramming bodies 10 each housing a filter 11 in their ramming surfaces, whereby the sand-conveying air may escape from the assembly via transverse ducts 12 which exhaust the air to atmosphere at the duct ends. Air also exhausts through passages 13 to a transverse duct 14. Sand is delivered from a hopper 21 to a container 16 having a slide valve 20; when a valve 18 is opened compressed air is fed to a chamber 17 and passes through slots 19 to deliver the sand via a chamber 15 to the flask or core box. After filling, a ram 3 is raised and the sand compressed between a plate 2 and the bodies 10. Filter support struts 24 are located in the ducts 12, and ducts 23 in the bodies 10 contain electric heaters or are traversed by hot fluid.
