Abstract
1458505 Plastics cups ITW Ltd 5 Feb 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 6057/73 Addition to 1395026 Heading A4A A double-walled plastics cup, capable of being rested with an identical cup so as to seal off a space 36 into which e.g. a drink concentrate may be preloaded, comprises an inner wall including an upper sealing surface 18, and an outer wall including a lower sealing surface 16, with upper and lower holding surfaces 22, 26 respectively overlapping in a nested stack so as to hold the sealing surfaces together, the container being dimensioned and sufficiently resilient so that the sealing surfaces are in firm contact. The sealing surfaces may be conical, and the holding surfaces may be formed by rings V-shaped in cross-section, further rings 24, 28 preventing too deep penetration. The crest of upper ring 22 may be flattened at spaced intervals around the circumference to permit the escape of air when the cups are nested. Finger grips (20), Fig. 1 (not shown), may be provided. The cups may be thermo-formed from 0À010 inch polystyrene sheet, or the inner wall may be of a softer material than the outer wall so as to improve the seal.
