Abstract

1455907 False twist apparatus ODA GOSEN KOGYO KK 11 Feb 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 06057/ 74 Heading D1D A false twist apparatus for crimping filament yarns 42 comprises a first endless belt 23 having a straight region 30 between a first pair of spaced pulleys, the region presenting a contact surface for the yarns 42, the belt region 30 being driven in a first direction, a second endless belt 26 having a straight region 33 between a second pair of spaced pulleys, the belt region 33 being driven to run in the opposite direction to the region 30 of the first belt, the straight region 33 extending parallel to the region 30 of the first belt and being vertically spaced from the first belt to present a contact surface to those filament yarns 42 having passed the surface of the belt 23, Ithe apparatus also comprising means for adjusting the parallel distance between the regions 30 and 33, and a plurality of ridges being provided on the outer surface of each belt, the ridges being inclined preferably at an angle of 1-10‹ relative to the longitudinal direction of the belts to urge the filament yarn in a direction transversely across the belts. In a preferred embodiment a plurality of belts 23, 24, 25 are mounted in spaced relation on shafts 9 mounted in frames 5 fixed to a fixed board 2 which is bolted to a frame 1. A further set of spaced belts 26, 27 are provided on shafts 11 mounted on frames 7 fixed to a board 3 which is slidable towards and away from the board 2 to thereby vary the distance between the belts. The filament yarns 42 pass between the belts making contact with the straight sections 30, 33, 31, 34 and 32 respectively. At the start of the false twisting process, the board 2 may be unbolted from the frame 1 and pivoted about a shaft 9 to facilitate threading of the filaments between the belts.
