Casings; leakagepreventing devices; disk-supported blade pumps; materials used in construction. -A pump for pumping acid liquids has a casing b surrounding its shaft, which is not a tight fit in the bushing a, and the casing b is provided with a double bell cover c which rotates with the shaft and seals the casing b against entry of moist air. The pump casing is made of wrought iron or other acid resisting metal, and is formed in two or more parts made by machining, and has guide blades d which diminish the velocity of the liquid. The diffuser f may be of circular form and may have vertical delivery pipes e.
