Blades; casings.-To obviate serious abrasion and damage to the internal parts of centrifugal pumps, water turbines &c., dealing with fluids containing sand, fibrous matter, or the like, the impeller vanes, which are carried on the side of the impeller disk, are made of a resilient material such as rubber, and the casing may be fitted with a rubber lining and have grooves in its side walls to facilitate the expulsion of foreign matter.
