1456487 Esterification ZOECON CORP 8 July 1975 28765/75 Heading C2C Fatty acid esters, where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group (at least 5 C) optionally substituted by one or more alkoxy group and R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl (1-6 C), are prepared by reacting the corresponding acid or ammonium salt thereof with a titanate (R<SP>1</SP>O) 4 Ti. At least 0À75 moles of titanate per mole of fatty acid or ammonium salt thereof is present. Fatty acids may be sorbic, lauric, palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, parinoric erythrogenic and examples describe the preparation of isopropyl (2E,4E) - 11 - methoxy - 3,7,11 - trimethyl - 2,4- dodecadienoate, isopropyl - 11 - methoxy - 3,7, 11 - trimethyl - 2,4 - dodecadienoate, methyl and ethyl 3,7,11 - trimethyl - 2,4 - dodecadienoate, and ethyl 11-ethoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl- 2,4-dodecadienoate.
