Abstract

1455008 Roofing tile REDLAND ROOF TILES Ltd 21 Nov 1973 [25 Nov 1972] 54076/73 Headings E1B and E1R A roofing tile is characterised in that the part that covers the roof consists partly of transparent and partly of non-transparent material. The transparent part 17 may be arranged in the middle of the tile so that in use the roof battens are not seen and may be rectangular or have the corners rounded off. It may be flat, with a central ridge or domed. Both parts may be of plastics material and may be bonded, welded or moulded together. The transparent part may be in the form of a flat or rounded displaceable cover 23 having a handle 24, cross walls 25, 26, 27 and side walls, supported by the walls 21 of the non-transparent part, so that it may be closed or opened to permit air circulation, Fig. 13. The tile may have a central ridge 1, flat areas 2, 3, an overlapping ridge 4 which engages in the lateral grooving 5 of the adjacent tile in the roof, a head fillet 6 with suspension lugs 7, 8, a foot support rib 9 and a double rib 11 which rest on the tile below in the roof, projections 13, 14 for storm clamps and closure plates on the central ridge 16.
